Job Context
    Job Location: MAB Secretariat, Dhaka
Job Description / Responsibility
  • The Project Coordinator will lead and serve as the main focal point for the Municipal Association of Bangladesh on behalf of UCLG ASPAC for the “Municipalities Network Advocacy on Sanitation in South Asia” Project with the following scope of works:
  • Ensure the effective and efficient day-to-day project implementation, including all substantive and administrative matters and covered the functioning of the project from the beginning to the end;
  • Be responsible of the deliverable project activities, objectives, and outputs as per required milestone dates;
  • Prepare and monitor the annual works plans and budget of the overall projects, which will include liaising with UCLG ASPAC for timely preparation and its implementations;
  • Plan the recruitment and supervision of experts/contract institutions as required to undertake tasks of the whole activities in accordance with the annual work plan;
  • Work in collaboration with both internal and external members of the organization and other relevant partners/stakeholders. S/he must bear in mind the guidelines agreed between UCLG ASPAC and other partners when develop policy strategy of the project;
  • Establish and maintain strategic partnership with local governments and relevant stakeholders;
  • Organize and coordinate the implementation of all project activities, including organizing regulatory training seminars, national workshops, focus group discussion, and other advocacy events;
  • Prepare documentation including project reports (monthly and final report) background materials, briefing notes, and other working papers;
  • Establish work towards and support the capacity building in the selected pilot municipalities and monitor its implementation;
  • Identify project issues, innovative solutions and approaches;
  • Has effective management and supervision of the project team with positive motivation;
  • Other tasks officially endorsed by the Secretary General of UCLG ASPAC and/or the Project Manager.
  • Draft monthly, interim, and final report of the project process to be submitted to Project Manager;
  • Mitigate potential risks and issues and identify resolve ideas and solutions;
  • Draft/Inputs of Implementation Plan for improving national and local sanitation policies with clear timeline and achievable activities/outputs;
  • Capacity training planning and delivering for Bangladesh officials.

Educational Requirements
    Post graduate degree in Management, International Development, Urban Planning, Environmental Studies, Social Sciences, Public Administration, Public Health and/or related fields;
Experience Requirements
  • At least 5 year(s)
Job Requirements
  • Minimum 5 (five) years of professional experience in project development and management, capacity development and working in a similar position in an NGO and/or an International Organization/ National Corporation;
  • Have experience in managing teams and in providing leadership;
  • Have experience in working on sanitation issue with national and local governments in Bangladesh,
  • Demonstrated knowledge of policy contexts and sustainability issues facing local governments, organizations and local communities;
  • Demonstrated experience working with local governments, multi-donor agency and/or development partner.
  • Exceptional leadership skills and strong organization skills;
  • Team oriented, decision making, coaching, result and motivating oriented;
  • Demonstrated experience working with local governments, multi-donor agency and/or development partner;
  • Highly developed communication skills, including ability to draft/edit texts and to articulate ideas in clear, concise style to a variety of audiences, as well as facilitation skills;
  • Honest, trustworthy and demonstrate sound work ethics;
  • Ability to quickly establish professional rapport with colleagues and other persons;
  • Ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines required;
  • Superior project management and time management skills;
  • Frequent travel during the project’s implementation to pilot municipalities.
  • Advanced computer skills, particularly MS Office.
